Joan & I are 6 weeks away from our 2017 road trip in our 2016 FR3 28DS. We will adventure through 23 states (some more then once) and three Canadian Providences. Our departure date will be September 5th from Deland Fl, Heading up I-75 to I-10 towards Mobile, AL and on to Biloxi MS for our first stop for several days.
We then depart and head back towards Mobile Al and up I-65 towards Tennessee and into Kentucky for our next visit in a quaint town of Cadiz KY (you can find some interesting trivia in small towns). We will be here several days before departing for Bowling Green Kentucky and the Corvette Museum. I plan on driving a new corvette on their track. I've driven a pace car at the Daytona Beach speedway - I;m hopping to redeem myself here.
Once departing Kentucky, I will be heading back up I-65 and into Indiana for two stops (I know what is there to see in Indiana). We will visit a friend who I was stationed with back in the 80's at Keesler AFB, MS. After my short stay there we will be heading to the factory where our motor home was built. We will take a tour of the factory and how our motorhome was built.
From here our adventure will really take off. We will join up with I-80 and head west of Chicago. Skirting around Chicago and heading north through Wisconsin to the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan. We will be heading to a small town called Gwyn. It is 26 miles inland from Lake Superior and the town of Marquette. It was the former home of K.I. Sawyer AFB and our last assignment in the Air Force.
From there our adventures will head us south across the Mackinac Island bridge and heading towards Detroit on I-75. Prior to Detroit we will I-69 toward Port Huron and enter the first of the three Canadian Providence (Ontario). While we adventure in this area. We will ultimately be heading towards Niagara Falls and back into the US.
From here we will enjoy the stops along I-90 heading towards Syracuse NY. From there we will head north again on I-81 and Watertown (we will stay a week here at the Army Fort Drum). This will be our staging point for our excursion into the next providence in Canada (Quebec). We will stay at the Wyndham Resorts Quebec while we survey the Canadian  country side. Upon our return to Fort Drum we will depart south again to join up with I-90 heading east.
Once we arrive at Albany New Your  and take in some of it's historical culture we will head cross country towards Bangor Maine. Just north of there is a Navy FamCamp we will be staying at while we adventure around this area and into our third and final providence of Canada (New Brunswick). After this visit it will definitely be time to head south. This should be mid October and I'm hoping we will have avoided the snow!
We now head south on I-95 towards Boston, But we will stay further south of Boston in Rhode Island. There is a lot of our history to see in this area. But our main purpose for heading in this direction is to see the Mansion from the late 60's and early 70's TV show Dark Shadows. After exploring this area for a week we will head west to West Point Academy and their FamCamp.
From here we will adventure into New York city and enjoy the City that never sleeps. Again we will be staying at Wyndham while in New York City. From Here we will head further south through Philadelphia Pennsylvania and over to Dover AFB Delaware. This is where I went to C-5 school before heading of to Germany. I have some friends here that I was stationed with through-out my career in the Air Force.
The rest of the trip south from Delaware and into Maryland, south through Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and home to Florida will be visiting friends and family. We should arrive home the first week in November!
