From there we headed back to LA – I had to cruse
the so-called traffic. We went to Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. Then cruse
over to the Fresh Prince in Belair – checking out our want Abe houses! There
headed to Hollywood and vine for some stars on the side walk – unbelievable.
There is a booklet of where everyone is at. I thought there was just a hand
full of stars – it goes on forever. Then around and round to make sure we
didn’t miss anything.
Joan was worn out after these adventures so I
cruised the base via foot. March ARB is one of the few Air Force Bases that
still has an Aero Club. The neat part is even though fuel is expensive here –
the cost of renting a plane here is still back in the 90’s. They also have
three T-43’s renting as the same as a Cessna 172. I knew I should have brought
my flying stuff with me.
Well the Route 66 journey as I was taking it was
complete – it is a shame that what little history we have as a country has all
been commercialized. I also completed another end to end road. When I started
this Journey I came up to I-10 in Jacksonville (the beginning) and then
completed route 66 and I-10 in LA. From there I headed down to San Diego where
we would take I-8 from it’s beginning to its end.
