Seeing how we are only 114
miles from Las Vegas (Short Excursion Compared to Some of Ours). We figured we
could check out the city and do some shopping at Nellis AFB on the way. What we
didn’t expect was the side excursion to a town called Nelson. Per normal we
stop for breakfast prior to a day’s journey. While at this restaurant we asked
this waitress if there was anything to see on our way to Vegas, She informed us
of an old silver and gold mine in a town called Nelson - why not it’s only two
ours to Vegas. Well it’s worth the stop, as you go up US 95 off of I-40 you
come to a solar farm about 30 miles outside of Vegas. You go right to Nelson –
its 11 miles up and east (the temperature dropped 10 degrees getting there).
They do tours of the mine and area.
Vegas has grown and expanded
sine we were here in 2016. Don’t get off the interstate or highway at the wrong
location. It can take you a while to get to the strip. I eventually put
Tropicana in my GPS for getting about Las Vegas Blvd, but it still got me
there. Seeing how we don’t gamble it was interesting to cruse the streets to
admire the glamour of the casinos and definitely people watch – I can’t wait to
get to LA!
