Well the first stage of our trip is over. We finally made it on the last leg of our first destination. Marysville - which is north of Seattle WA. We departed Mountain Home Air Force Base on Thursday Morning refreshed and ready to go. We had a great stay there. The first couple we met there were our neighbors. They had a new diesel pusher and they stay on the road about six months out of the year. The next couple were from Ocala. Interesting - traveling over half way cross the country and meet people that live an hour from the original departing point.
Two great points about staying on base. First was it only cost $15 per night for full hook up and when we departed the next day the gas was cheaper then the surrounding area. As we travel forward I will need to plan my trip around military installations.
As we departed on Interstate 84 and climbed higher into the Rockies, the majesty of it all was breath taking. Then to come down on the other sides with the brooks and streams showed how peaceful mother nature could be. We eventually departed Idaho and went into Washington State as my Rand McNally GPS reminded me as I passed over ever previous state line. This one though meant that I was getting closer to some down time from the driving.
As we drove further into Washington State we saw more and more vineyards. But we saw something else - something I hadn't seen since I was in England and Joan use to pick as a little girl. It was hops. It was beautiful to see such lush green fields.
We finally finished with I-84 and headed on to I-90 which took us into the ring road for Seattle the 405 and traffic. We had not come across any stop and go traffic like this our whole trip. I thought I was back on I-4 during morning traffic. We eventually made it on I-5. I was wondering why I hadn't seen any tractor trailers - there smart enough not to be on these roads during rush our traffic. I was the largest vehicle on the road.
Thanks for reading!
